An author, teacher, and speaker, Courtney E. Martin does it all. “Perfect Girls, Starving Daughters” was her first book which was awarded a Books for a Better Life nomination and addresses many of the issues Reflections focuses on. She is also a freelance journalist, social advocate, and has made multiple national television appearances on CNN, Good Morning America, The Today Show, and more.
Focuses on our obsession with weight and appearance, driven by a need to do everything and do it well. Women are pressured to be the best and this quest for perfection is driving them to engage in unhealthy behaviors and attitudes.
What she has to say about herself:
“When she isn’t working, which is not nearly enough of the time, she is walking in Prospect Park, watching depressing documentaries, or creating unselfconscious dance parties with her amazing friends.”
Come see her at WashU:
